The worker also performs minor maintenance and repairs on groundskeeping equipment, light bulbs, walls, furniture, and implements minor carpentry, plumbing, and electrical repairs. Custodial duties and delivery tasks are also part of the role, making this a diverse position that supports numerous aspects of campus care. In this role, the worker is expected to perform a wide variety of groundskeeping duties such as seeding, watering, mulching, fertilizing, and chemical application to plantings both indoors and outdoors. The position requires thorough knowledge and hands-on skills in managing lawns, turf, flower beds, and other landscaped areas by mowing, trimming, edging, weeding, and maintaining irrigation systems. They will also be responsible for documenting grounds care activities accurately, including the application of chemicals used in horticulture and turf management, adhering to safety regulations and proper procedures. Campus-wide general maintenance tasks include repairing and maintaining landscape lighting, parking meters, fences, athletic fields, tennis courts, and other infrastructure. The worker will perform regular trash removal, cleaning of trash and cigarette receptacles, snow and ice removal during winter weather, and preparation of outdoor spaces for activities and events. Proper operation of vehicles such as pickup trucks, tractors, and other grounds machinery is essential, as is adherence to safety protocols. The Groundskeeper-General Maintenance Worker is expected to conduct minor repairs of building components and to assist with delivery of supplies and management of surplus property. This role supports custodial operations by cleaning buildings and equipment using manual and powered tools.
