The role of Lead Cook at Harmony is integral to the success of the dining services team, as it directly impacts the health and satisfaction of residents. This position is designed for a skilled culinary professional who is passionate about preparing meals that adhere to strict dietary requirements while maintaining high standards of taste and presentation. The Lead Cook is responsible not only for meal preparation according to approved menus and recipes but also for ensuring the smooth operation and supervision of kitchen staff in the absence of Dining Services Director and Supervisor. This leadership role requires a person with a strong foundation in food preparation, cooking techniques, sanitation procedures, and safety practices. This position involves managing various tasks such as monitoring food quality, portion control to reduce waste, maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of the kitchen environment, and handling the training and development of dietary staff. The Lead Cook also plays an essential role in compliance by taking and recording food temperatures multiple times daily and ensuring leftover foods are properly stored and labeled. The candidate must be attentive to the special dietary needs of residents, aware of menu substitutions with supervisory approval, and mindful of confidentiality when dealing with resident information. Harmony seeks a Lead Cook who can work collaboratively with other team members and interact courteously with residents, visitors, and staff.
