The available position of Material Handling Agent at Forward Air offers a dynamic role integral to the company’s warehouse operations. This full-time role operates during the first shift from Monday to Friday and pays between $21.00 and $24.00 per hour. The Material Handling Agent is tasked with ensuring the accurate processing, verifying, and shipping of materials by utilizing advanced warehouse management software systems such as SAP and RF scanners. Core responsibilities include picking and weighing shipments, loading and unloading freight using equipment such as hand trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, and reach trucks, labeling and shipping orders in accordance with customer-specific procedures, and maintaining accurate inventory through cycle counts and shelf restocking.
Attention to safety and compliance procedures is paramount in this role, with duties encompassing the inspection of freight, proper reporting, and ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the work environment. The agent is also involved in documentation work, including maintaining filing systems and recording monthly activities for period-end reporting. Candidates with forklift certification and reach truck experience will find this a particularly suited opportunity. Additionally, this role requires effective communication skills to deliver prompt and accurate customer service, as well as the ability to work independently while fostering positive working relationships with coworkers and management.

- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years' experience of general warehouse knowledge
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Warehouse Oracle Database experience is a plus
- Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds
- Forklift Certification preferred
- Ability to work under minimal supervision
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and managers
