As the Chef & B (Chef and Banquet) at Austin Marriott South, you will assume a critical leadership position directing and supervising the food preparation for all hotel food outlets. This role demands overseeing the highest levels of food handling, quality, and presentation while maintaining strict adherence to established operational standards. The Chef & B plays a vital role in supporting the hotel’s financial objectives by assisting daily operations within the Food and Beverage and Banquet departments. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this position requires executing administrative, executive, and professional tasks that utilize independent judgment and discretion regularly.
In this senior role, you will be responsible for creating and planning menus for the restaurant, outlets, and catered events, maintaining food cost budgets, and minimizing waste. You will lead a team of cooks, scheduling appropriately and ensuring staff presentation meets professional standards. The role also involves frequent collaboration with other departments to facilitate convention and group activities and ensure flawless service delivery. Communicating updated financial data regularly to the General Manager, including budget and revenue growth strategies, is a key component of the position. Your oversight will extend to inspecting food displays, buffets, and stations to ensure cleanliness, safety, and creativity.
The Chef & B must demonstrate excellent guest service skills, positively influencing customer interaction with a friendly and accommodating attitude. You will conduct pre-shift meetings to prepare your team for daily business and assist with recruiting, training, and scheduling to optimize departmental performance and maintain labor cost efficiency. Participation in monthly inventories and initiatives to reduce breakage and loss are expected. This role also includes implementing and following up on food and beverage promotional ideas to enhance guest appeal and departmental profitability. This position is exempt, requiring commitment beyond standard work hours to ensure all responsibilities are fulfilled efficiently and effectively.

- Have a minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory role in food and beverage department
- Have 5 or more years of progressive experience in hotel food and beverage experience or other successful F&B service industry
- Or possess a culinary degree with 3 or more years of progressive experience in hotel food and beverage experience or other successful F&B service industry
- Be incredibly friendly, customer centric, love to smile and radiate a positive and accommodating attitude while interacting with customers
- Create and plan all meals and menus for the restaurant(s), outlet(s) and catered events
- Expedite peak meal periods by maintaining a 'hands on' approach
- Work within monthly set food cost budget, adjust food requisitions and control waste
