This position is an exciting opportunity to join Tommy Bahama’s culinary leadership team as part of a high-volume restaurant environment. As a key player in the kitchen management team, you will serve as an ambassador of the Tommy Bahama lifestyle, fostering a positive atmosphere of 'aloha fun' among staff and guests alike. You will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day kitchen operations, developing and executing innovative menus including daily, weekly, and monthly specials, and ensuring compliance with all food safety and sanitation regulations. This role requires a hands-on leadership approach, guiding kitchen team members through comprehensive training programs to enhance their culinary skills such as knife techniques, cooking methods, and time management.
In addition to managing creative menu development and quality control, you will be entrusted with budgeting responsibilities, including overseeing food costs, labor expenses, and supply purchases to maximize profitability without compromising quality. Collaboration with the front-of-house management team and co-managing team meetings will be essential to maintain smooth operational flow and foster effective communication throughout the restaurant.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in high-volume culinary settings, demonstrable leadership capabilities, and a passion for culinary arts and hospitality. You should possess strong communication skills and be comfortable navigating essential software tools including Windows, Microsoft Office, Point of Sale systems, and Outlook email. While a Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts, Hospitality, or a related field is preferred, substantial practical experience will be highly valued.

- 3+ years of high volume culinary/hospitality experience
- 1+ years of high volume kitchen leadership experience
- Current food handler’s card and other certification as required by federal/state/local law
- Strong knowledge of food/restaurant service skills including all phases of food production and service, storage and rotation, food preparation, recipe adherence, plate presentation, and service and production time standards
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate operational information
- Comfortable using computers with proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Office, Point of Sale systems and Outlook email
- Bachelor’s degree in culinary arts, hospitality, or similar preferred
- Willingness to perform other duties as required to support the business
