The role of the Local Delivery Driver (Class A CDL) based in Hyattsville, MD, offers an exciting opportunity to be part of the Airgas team specializing in acetylene production and filling. This position involves operating newer, well-maintained Class A Hazmat vehicles to deliver compressed and liquid gas cylinders, as well as hard goods, along designated routes. The driver is responsible for the safe loading, delivery, and unloading of cylinders, ensuring that empty cylinders are collected and returned to the plants or branch locations for refilling. Customer interaction is a key part of this job, requiring the driver to address inquiries and maintain excellent customer relations by communicating effectively with managers and Airgas sales associates about any delivery concerns or issues. Additionally, the driver conducts pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations, including SAFECOR and government mandates. The role includes maintaining accurate documentation such as load manifests and vehicle documents, making sure all paperwork reconciles with truck counts and shipment details. There is also an occasional requirement to work in warehouse or dock settings as operational needs arise. This position is a Monday to Friday, first-shift role, with starting pay of $33.32 per hour, increasing to $34.32 after one year of service.   • Valid Class A driver’s license
  • Valid medical examiner’s card
  • Hazmat and airbrake certifications or ability to acquire
  • Minimum one year of Class A professional driving experience within last five years
  • Clean driving record with limited convictions and at-fault accidents
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Must be at least 21 years or older
