We are currently inviting applications for the position of Cook, a vital role within our culinary services team. Reporting directly to the Chef, the Cook plays a crucial part in preparing and plating food items according to detailed menu specifications and order requirements. This role demands a strong adherence to sanitation standards and excellence in maintaining an organized workstation, encompassing the proper use and upkeep of kitchen equipment and supplies. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a passion for quality food production, and the ability to work collaboratively within a professional kitchen environment. The position involves preparing food for service, chopping vegetables, cooking main dishes, and preparing sauces in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff.
An essential aspect of this job includes adhering to food safety protocols, including maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen equipment and the work area. The Cook is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing tools and surfaces like fryers, saute burners, ovens, griddles, and refrigeration units. Additionally, the role requires efficient inventory management — including stocking stations, monitoring inventory levels, reporting supply needs, performing portion control, and minimizing waste to keep costs under control. The Cook must ensure that food items are prepared and served simultaneously, maintaining high quality and freshness while upholding proper temperature regulations to guarantee safety and customer satisfaction.
This role requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed, underscoring the operational demands of the city’s culinary services. Candidates must be willing and able to meet these scheduling requirements. - High school diploma or general education degree preferred
- Six months related experience and/or training as a cook or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must obtain ServSafe Food Handler Certification within 30 days of hire
- Valid State of Florida Driver's License with a good driving record
