The Line Cook role is critical in delivering the quality and consistency our customers expect. This position involves preparing a variety of food items including à la carte dishes, buffet meals, salad bars, banquets, and hors d'oeuvres according to detailed recipes and business demands. The Line Cook will be responsible for managing their station efficiently, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring food safety standards are met in compliance with state, county, and company regulations. This role requires collaboration with other kitchen departments and supervision to ensure smooth kitchen operations. The ideal candidate will have a passion for cooking, attention to detail, and the ability to work swiftly during busy periods while maintaining food quality. In this role, the Line Cook opens the kitchen each morning by preparing and organizing their station and cooking all the food necessary to start service. They will handle all food preparation for lunch menus, including sauces, soups, and buffet entrees, and manage the transition from breakfast to lunch schedules promptly. The Line Cook must maintain the line and steam table organization to ensure efficient luncheon service. Additionally, the Line Cook is tasked with preparing food for the following shifts and days as directed, ensuring that portion control and food quality are strictly adhered to. Knowledge of menu items, recipes, preparation techniques, and presentation standards is essential to succeed in this position. The Line Cook is also responsible for storing food properly, cooking only enough food to cover expected business needs while maintaining peak condition, and supporting other kitchen areas with food preparation when appropriate. Maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of work areas, utensils, equipment, and refrigeration units as per health and safety regulations is a crucial part of this role. This role typically requires at least a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of three months of cooking experience in a full-service restaurant or hotel setting.
