The role of Lead Cook at Aramark is a pivotal position responsible for preparing and cooking food using standard recipes and production guidelines while adhering strictly to food safety, handling, and sanitation procedures. This role involves utilizing various kitchen equipment such as grills, fryers, ovens, and broilers safely and effectively. The Lead Cook not only manages their workstation but often supervises a team of kitchen staff, delegating food preparation tasks and ensuring all employees comply with safety and quality standards. The individual in this position plays a critical role in maintaining food quality and consistency, ensuring excellent customer service, and upholding Aramark’s standards for security and cleanliness.
Additionally, the Lead Cook's responsibilities may vary depending on the client and business needs at different Aramark locations, demonstrating the importance of flexibility and adaptability. Key functions include scheduling and assigning daily work activities, training kitchen staff on job duties and safety protocols, preparing ingredients by weighing, chopping, and mixing, as well as cooking using various methods like baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming. The Lead Cook must also ensure the proper storage of food items and sanitation of workstations and utensils to comply with health regulations.

- High school diploma or equivalent
- previous supervisor experience preferred
- experience as a cook or in a related role required
- ability to work independently with limited supervision required
- food safety certification required
- basic math and counting skills
- effective interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- physical ability to perform tasks including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended walking or standing
- willingness to wear uniforms and use personal protective equipment (PPE)
