The Emergency Shelter Kitchen Supervisor position at Tulsa County Social Services is a full-time role that offers an hourly wage of $16.62. This position is integral to the smooth operation and success of the Emergency Shelter Kitchen, where nutritious meals are prepared and served to clients in need. Under general supervision, the individual filling this role will oversee the day-to-day kitchen operations, ensure cleanliness standards are maintained, and manage the preparation and cooking of meals. Serving as both a hands-on cook and a supervisor, this role involves menu planning to maximize food stock usage, ordering groceries and supplies, and managing a small team of kitchen staff. Responsibilities include selecting meats and vegetables, cooking with various kitchen equipment, and maintaining a hygienic and safe kitchen environment in compliance with Tulsa City County Health Department Food Code regulations. This leadership position includes supervisory duties such as interviewing, hiring, training, and evaluating kitchen employees to foster a productive and motivated team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in institutional cooking and kitchen management, with a strong ability to estimate food quantities based on shelter census and prepare meals that are both appealing and nutritious. Other key competencies include the ability to follow both oral and written instructions, maintain effective communication, and uphold safety and sanitation protocols rigorously. • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• One year of satisfactory full time paid employment in institutional cooking
• At least one year of successful staff and kitchen supervision experience
• Current Food Handlers Card from Tulsa City/County Health Department
• Current Certified Food Services Manager Certification from Tulsa City/County Health Department
• Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License
