The University of Montana is currently seeking a dedicated Lead Cashier to join its Campus Dining Administration team. This is a full-time, hourly staff position classified under hourly staff full-time employment type with a competitive hourly wage of $18.51. The role operates during the academic year, spanning 10 months from August through May, working Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The Lead Cashier will be instrumental in ensuring smooth cashier operations, supervising and training students and temporary staff in cash handling and guest services. This position is non-exempt and falls under the 09 - FOCUS-MFPE bargaining unit. As a Lead Cashier at UM Campus Dining, the incumbent will play a critical role in all operational aspects of the Lodge Dining Center. The responsibilities include managing cash transactions with precision, utilizing point-of-sale (POS) systems effectively, and delivering exceptional customer service by engaging warmly with every guest. The role also involves hands-on participation in food preparation, equipment sanitation, inventory assistance, and overall maintenance of the dining area. Effective communication with staff, faculty, students, and guests is vital to uphold the high standards expected by the university. The Lead Cashier must demonstrate leadership capabilities by overseeing training programs and enforcing safety and sanitation protocols. This position requires the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a dynamic team environment. Additionally, the Lead Cashier must be adaptable to a fast-paced setting, capable of handling multiple tasks such as opening and closing the dining center according to checklist procedures.
