The role of Kitchen Manager at SSA Group is vital in ensuring that the back-of-house operations at various cultural attraction venues are running smoothly and efficiently. Reporting directly to the Food Service Operations Manager(s) and Executive Chef, the Kitchen Manager is responsible for overseeing all kitchen functions, including food preparation, safety, quality, staffing, and guest service standards. This position requires a dynamic leader who can ensure that operations meet the highest standards of food safety and quality while fostering a positive and productive work environment for all kitchen staff.
The Kitchen Manager plays a pivotal role in maintaining operational excellence by ensuring that the kitchen is adequately prepped and staffed daily. They are responsible for implementing SSA's EXTRA Guest Service standards to create memorable experiences for every guest and client. Their duties extend to managing food safety protocols such as monitoring food temperatures, product rotation, and waste management, as well as enforcing hygiene standards among staff, including proper uniform, handwashing, and glove use.
In addition to operational duties, the Kitchen Manager supports SSAfety training, particularly in safe knife handling practices. They create daily prep lists and delegate tasks efficiently, stepping in as needed to support smooth service flow. Supervising the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen environment is another key responsibility, alongside managing employee training, performance reviews, attendance reporting, and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
This role demands excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as the Kitchen Manager must effectively collaborate with the General Manager, branch managers, and other stakeholders to foster team development and address operational challenges. Flexibility and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting are essential traits. The ideal candidate will be a motivated team player who is personable, professional, and proactive, demonstrating strong problem-solving abilities and leadership qualities.
