The Manager, Logistics at Exelixis plays a pivotal role within the clinical manufacturing supply chain by overseeing transportation functions related to clinical, research, discovery, and development activities. This critical role demands extensive expertise in domestic and international import/export regulations and the ability to proficiently troubleshoot transportation-related issues involving trade documentation and clearance execution. A significant focus of this position is on cold chain logistics, ensuring the proper handling and transportation of temperature-sensitive drug products, which is vital for maintaining drug integrity and compliance. The role also entails building robust relationships across internal teams—Clinical, Manufacturing, and Quality—and external partners, to ensure seamless communication and efficient management of freight movements.
This managerial position includes responsibilities such as overseeing logistics team members and carriers, managing transportation budgets and purchase orders, standardizing processes for compliant import/export activities, and monitoring key performance indicators related to transport activities. The Manager is also tasked with monitoring critical shipments throughout transport, resolving shipping disputes, and collaborating with Quality Assurance to investigate shipping incidents. Furthermore, the role requires staying current with global regulatory changes impacting international trade, administrating the Transportation Management System (TMS), and representing Supply Chain Logistics in supply meetings to provide key insights and visibility for supply lanes. The position supervises employees and ensures adherence to company compliance requirements, culminating in managing risks and mitigation strategies critical to drug supply reliability.
This role is a full-time position with a competitive base salary range of $126,500 to $179,000 annually, based on factors such as geographic location, experience, and skills. - bs/ba degree in related discipline and a minimum of seven years of transportation logistics experience or ms/ma degree in supply chain and a minimum of five years of transportation logistics experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- global transportation logistics experience
- experience with global import and export regulations
- knowledge of documentation requirements for shipments
- strong understanding of GxP in relation to transportation
- experience with cold chain logistics
- experience with saas transport management application preferred
- strong microsoft office skills, specifically in spreadsheets and outlook
