Grand Rapids, MI, USA, MI Full-Time $16 - $16
Our organization is a dedicated provider of nutritious and high-quality meals within the educational sector, focusing on supporting school districts to ensure that students receive balanced and appetizing food daily. As a committed school nutrition program, we prioritize health, safety, and satisfaction for the children in our care through efficient cafeteria operations and well-trained food service teams. We operate under regulations that emphasize the importance of food safety standards and promote community wellbeing through proper nutrition education and accessible meal programs. We are currently seeking a Kitchen Manager to lead and oversee daily food service operations at an assigned school cafeteria. This full-time role requires a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can effectively manage staff, and who is passionate about delivering safe, quality meals to hundreds of students every day. The Kitchen Manager will take full responsibility for food preparation and service, team training, inventory control, equipment maintenance, and compliance adherence from federal, state, and company policies. This position plays a crucial role in uplifting the health and wellness of the student community by ensuring the highest standards of food safety, production, and customer service. As an on-site leader, the successful candidate will coordinate all aspects of the kitchen's operation, employing their knowledge of food safety regulations—such as HACCP and ServSafe standards—to maintain a clean, efficient, and safe kitchen environment. Responsibilities will include training kitchen staff, managing labor schedules to align with staffing budgets, maintaining meticulous food safety and temperature logs, and managing supply orders to ensure consistent stock without overspending. The Kitchen Manager will also uphold company policies regarding employee performance, cash handling, and report submissions. Alongside leadership duties, the role demands flexibility to conduct hands-on food preparation and respond to the dynamic needs of a busy school kitchen. This is an opportunity to join a meaningful mission that benefits the health and educational experience of schoolchildren, with a supportive work environment focused on professional growth, community impact, and operational excellence.
