The ROCK Community Center for Youth and Children (RCCYC) is a vital component of The ROCK Initiative, a comprehensive 60,000-square-foot facility dedicated to serving the Arlington Woods community. The center aims to provide a safe, accessible, and nurturing environment where youth and children can thrive through holistic programs and support services designed to foster their healthy development. RCCYC’s mission is to champion the growth of healthy, whole, and resilient youth and children by offering a range of academic, social, and recreational activities. These programs emphasize entrepreneurship, financial literacy, positive social behaviors, leadership skills, emotional intelligence, and college and career readiness. Through these programs, RCCYC creates opportunities for youth to engage with their community and acquire the skills necessary for lifelong success. RCCYC serves as a transformative catalyst in the Arlington Woods community by meeting the critical need for a safe gathering place that promotes learning, growth, and positive development for children, youth, and families. The role of RCCYC Kitchen Manager is a full-time, hourly, and non-exempt position reporting directly to the RCCYC Director. This position is central to the success of RCCYC’s food service operations and the administration of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). The Kitchen Manager is responsible for supervising and coordinating food services at RCCYC, ensuring all CACFP guidelines are meticulously followed. Key duties include creating and adjusting weekly menus, recording attendance and meal counts, preparing and serving CACFP reimbursable meals, and maintaining accurate records of receipts and food labeling. Another vital responsibility of this role is entering and submitting claims for CACFP meals to ensure the program’s integrity and compliance. The Kitchen Manager also manages the procurement of food items and kitchen supplies, ensuring that inventory is maintained to support the center’s meal service needs. Effective communication with staff, volunteers, and students is crucial for coordinating kitchen tasks and maintaining smooth operations. The successful candidate will provide clear directions and support to auxiliary kitchen personnel and communicate regularly with the RCCYC Director and other leadership team members regarding kitchen updates and any operational challenges. The ideal RCCYC Kitchen Manager possesses strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate in a friendly, positive, and professional manner to the general public, parents, and program participants. They are adept at conveying RCCYC policies and procedures effectively and implementing guidance and discipline policies when necessary. This role requires someone who is organized, enthusiastic, energetic, and committed, with excellent verbal communication skills. Physical demands include the ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform various physical activities necessary for kitchen operations. The position requires a high school diploma or GED and prior experience working with youth is preferred. Training or willingness to be trained in CACFP, Mental Health First Aid for Youth and Adults, First Aid, CPR, and safe food handling is required. The RCCYC Kitchen Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring that youth and children receive nutritious meals in a safe and welcoming environment, contributing directly to the overall mission of fostering healthy and resilient community members.
