The role of Cook within this senior care facility is integral to creating a vibrant and sustaining environment for residents by preparing and serving delicious and nutritionally adequate meals according to well-established menu cycles. The Cook is responsible for overseeing food service operations, including inventory control and maintaining supplies. This individual will prepare food items and serve residents within scheduled timeframes, ensuring preferences and dietary requirements are met precisely, including specialty diets and textures. Maintaining high-quality food standards is a top priority, with regular sampling and monitoring. The Cook also plays a key role in maintaining cleanliness and safety in all kitchen and food service areas, complying with state health and sanitation regulations. 
This position requires attention to detail, compassion, and the ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, and volunteers. Collaboration with the Executive Director ensures coverage and scheduling needs are met, contributing to smooth operation of the kitchen and dining services. The Cook must observe and report any changes in resident status or preferences, maintaining detailed meal service records and assisting with emergency procedures as necessary. Physical demands include sitting, talking, hearing, using hands for handling and feeling, occasional standing and walking, as well as lifting or moving items weighing up to 40 pounds. This job emphasizes independent work with minimal supervision and the ability to problem-solve creatively.
