The role of Security Training Instructor (STI) at DCS involves playing a crucial part in supporting the airport training program by executing various training-related tasks to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and enhance the skills of security personnel. Additionally, as part of the position, the STI will be responsible for performing pre-board security screening of persons, cargo, carry-on, and checked baggage, a duty that constitutes a minimum of 20 percent of their time. The Security Training Instructor operates under the directive of the Federal Security Director (FSD) or their designee, contributing directly to the airport's overall safety and security framework. Candidates interested in the Security Training Instructor position must meet specific criteria, including possessing dual-function certification, which qualifies them to conduct both training and security screening. The role demands at least one year of experience functioning at a Transportation Security Officer (TSO) level or higher, ensuring familiarity with airport security operations and protocols. Aspiring instructors must also have prior experience in instructional roles, demonstrated by at least two years in adult-learning classroom instruction or through recognized instructor certifications, including formal military, academic, or corporate instructor training.
