The position of Hospice Aide at Gentiva Hospice involves providing direct personal care and emotional support to terminally ill patients. This role ensures that patients experience comfort, dignity, and respect while managing symptoms and maintaining quality of life. The Hospice Aide will assist with personal hygiene, grooming, toileting, mobility, meal preparation, feeding, and light housekeeping tasks. Additionally, the aide will observe and report any changes in patients’ physical or mental conditions to the nursing team, deliver emotional support to patients and their families, and participate actively in team meetings and quality improvement activities.
The ideal candidate must hold an active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license in the state of employment, be CPR certified, and have access to a reliable vehicle with a valid driver’s license and insurance. Experience in direct patient care, particularly in home health or hospice settings, is preferred but not mandatory. This position requires someone who is dependable, empathetic, and able to work independently while adapting to the varying needs of patients. Safety protocols and infection control measures must be rigorously followed at all times, making this a safety-sensitive position.
