Southwest Airlines is currently seeking dedicated and energetic individuals to join their Ground Operations team as Ramp Agents in the State of New York. Ramp Agents at Southwest Airlines perform a variety of duties involving aircraft handling, baggage and cargo management, and providing exceptional customer service to those traveling or using the airline's cargo services. These Ramp Agents work outdoors in all weather conditions, navigating the busy airport ramp to load and unload baggage, operate ground support equipment, and ensure compliance with safety standards and operational procedures. Training for new hires involves 4 to 6 weeks of comprehensive classroom and hands-on instruction to prepare individuals for the physical and technical demands of the job. Upon completion of training, new Ramp Agents typically work five 6.5-hour shifts per week with potential mandatory overtime. The role involves a seniority-based bidding process to determine work schedules, which may include early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays.
