The role available is for a Cashier at California Fish Grill, classified as an hourly, non-exempt position. This role is vital in enacting cash and credit card transactions for menu items purchased by guests throughout the restaurant’s daily serving hours. The Cashier reports to the Restaurant General Manager and the Training General Manager and plays an essential part in ensuring smooth, accurate, and friendly guest interactions during the payment process. The position requires exemplary guest service skills, accuracy in handling orders and payments, the ability to recognize counterfeit money, and adherence to all company policies, safety procedures, and legal requirements, including those relating to the sale of alcoholic beverages.
The Cashier’s responsibilities include greeting guests, accurately charging food and beverage prices, processing payments (including gift cards), and providing correct change. Being knowledgeable about the restaurant’s menu and pricing is expected to support fast and efficient service. The role also entails maintaining a neat and clean work environment, following uniform and hygiene standards, and ensuring compliance with in-service training requirements. The successful candidate will demonstrate core competencies such as teamwork, adaptability, initiative, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced setting. Essential skills include proficiency in operating POS and credit card equipment, strong interpersonal and communication abilities, and physical capacity to perform tasks that involve reaching, lifting, bending, and standing for prolonged periods.

- High school diploma or GED
- 1-2 years related work experience or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Prior experience related to cashier or food service positions
- Valid ServSafe or other approved Food Handler Certification
- Must be of legal age according to State regulations to serve alcohol
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures as directed by the Restaurant Manager
- Ability to be aware of and follow company policies and procedures related to job safety, including safety rules and regulations
- Proficient reading and writing skills
- Proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills
- Ability to stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing 50 lbs or less
