McKesson is currently seeking a Director of Global Transportation Operations to join its team in either the Richmond, VA or Jacksonville, FL area. This is a highly strategic leadership role that involves overseeing and optimizing the logistics and transportation processes across international borders. The position focuses on the development and execution of a global transportation strategy that aligns with McKesson's overarching business objectives and supports expanding the company’s presence in emerging markets.
The Director will lead both domestic and international logistics teams, fostering a high-performance culture that emphasizes continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability. A key aspect of this role involves managing complex relationships with logistics service providers—including carriers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers—to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and compliant transportation operations.
Operational excellence is core to this role, with responsibilities ranging from overseeing the daily logistics operations to implementing best practices that enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and mitigate risks. The Director will drive improvements in container lifecycle management, load planning, shipment visibility, and inventory control to minimize delays and demurrage costs. Building on data-driven decision-making, the Director will leverage analytics and technology to monitor transportation performance and identify optimization opportunities. McKesson offers a competitive salary for this role, ranging from $106,500 to $177,500, plus potential bonuses and long-term incentives. - Degree or equivalent experience
- Typically has 12+ years of professional experience and 4+ years management experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in global transportation, logistics, or supply chain management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
