Butler serves as the primary training site and base hospital for the Brown University General Residency in Psychiatry, attracting leading physicians and psychologists who contribute to cutting-edge clinical research in collaboration with the Brown Institute for Brain Science. The current opportunity is for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Internal Medicine team at Butler Hospital. This role involves a dynamic clinical schedule of 13 shifts every 4 weeks, with shifts rotating between 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, with one weekend shift per month. The position requires managing approximately 15 patients daily, focusing on admissions, comprehensive health history and physical examinations, and providing consultations upon request from the psychiatric team. The practitioner will be responsible for managing acute and chronic medical issues and must be prepared to participate in medical emergencies. This role demands strong clinical skills with a broad foundation of general medical knowledge, the ability to work independently, and excellent communication and collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams. Candidates preferably have at least two years of clinical experience in internal medicine or a related field.
