The Air Methods Flight Operations Monitor is a critical role focused on the surveillance and operational support of all flight activities. This position is responsible for monitoring and overseeing the safe conduct of flight operations, ensuring compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), and supporting pilots and crews with information necessary to maintain safety and efficiency. The Monitor manages operational control tasks including crew duty time, currency requirements, and aircraft status. This role also involves reviewing medical Flight Risk Assessments with pilots, disseminating operational control information, reporting safety irregularities, and analyzing meteorological data to anticipate and mitigate potential hazards. Located in Greenwood Village, this full-time position operates on rotating shifts covering days, mid, and night hours to provide uninterrupted support to Air Methods’ fleet operations. The salary range is between $55,625 and $75,000 annually, reflecting the specialized nature and responsibility of the role. The Flight Operations Monitor plays an essential part in ensuring the seamless execution of flight operations, indirectly contributing to the lives saved by Air Methods’ air ambulance missions. The position demands active participation in recurrent training on company policies and FAA regulations and requires up-to-date knowledge of operational manuals and regulatory requirements. In addition to operational duties, the Monitor maintains open communication channels regarding safety and flight conditions and participates in continuous process improvement to uphold the highest standards of operational control.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Three to five years' related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Thorough knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations
  • Successfully pass knowledge and practical test, required of 14 CFR 135.619
  • Successfully pass FAA mandated drug and alcohol test
  • 2+ years' experience (within the last 5 years) in any one or a combination of the following: military aircraft operations as a pilot or meteorologist
  • Part 135 air ambulance air carrier operations as a pilot (helicopter or airplane)
  • Air carrier operations as a certified aircraft dispatcher or meteorologist
  • Aircraft operations as an air traffic controller or flight service specialist
  • Air ambulance communication center flight follower
  • Regular scheduled attendance, rotating shifts 8-10 hours, day, mid, and night
  • Indicate the percentage of time spent traveling: 10%
