The role PHI Health is currently offering in Palestine, TX, is a highly specialized position as a helicopter pilot within their air ambulance operations. This position entails piloting the PHI fleet's helicopter aircraft to transport patients in critical condition, as well as managing maintenance or administrative flights as necessary. Operating under rigorous safety protocols and FAA compliance, the pilot will assess flight viability considering safety conditions, weather, mechanical status, aircraft performance, and airport environments. The pilot performs under the direct supervision of senior management including the Area Manager, Operations Manager EMS, Chief Pilot, Director of Operations, and Scheduling Manager. This role is essential to the seamless and rapid delivery of urgent medical services by ensuring aircraft readiness and mission execution with exceptional professionalism and adherence to company policies.
The helicopter pilot will be an integral part of PHI’s 24-hour operation, which demands both day and night shifts and maintains strict instrument flight rules standards. Experience in flying the EC135 SPIFR/NVG helicopter with an instrument rating is required, highlighting the technical and operational skill level needed. Candidates transitioning to this aircraft type must commit to at least one year of service, with relocation assistance available to support the transition. This role commands a strong emphasis on completing all necessary documentation accurately, maintaining constant communication with the medical and maintenance teams, ensuring airworthiness before, during, and after flights, and fostering safe patient handling practices.
