The housekeeper is also responsible for cleaning handrails, walls, mirrors, windows, light fixtures, towel bars, and dispensers, which contributes to a thorough maintenance of the environment. Regular duties include emptying trash cans and replacing liners, sweeping, and mopping floors. Handling cleaning supplies and equipment safely and effectively by following user manuals is imperative, as is implementing proper safety measures such as the use of caution signage and keeping chemicals out of residents’ reach. Communication forms an essential component of the position; the housekeeper must notify the Director of Housekeeping, Administrator, or Director of Nursing immediately of any resident safety issues or concerns. Additionally, it is important to notify the Director of Housekeeping when supplies require replenishing. This role demands excellent customer skills, a positive attitude, and effective time management abilities. The housekeeper must be capable of working independently or as part of a team, adapting to the dynamic needs of the long-term care facility.  - Fluent in written and spoken English
