The role available is that of an experienced Sous Chef, a vital leadership position within the kitchen hierarchy. The Sous Chef will work closely under the direction of the Head Chef and General Manager to oversee all kitchen operations including food purchasing, preparation, staff management, sanitation, and quality control. This role is essential for ensuring that food is prepared efficiently, consistently, and safely, meeting the restaurant's high standards for taste and presentation. The Sous Chef acts as the Head Chef’s second-in-command and assumes full responsibility for the kitchen in their absence.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in various kitchen positions such as food preparation, line cooking, and expediting, and must demonstrate the ability to lead and train kitchen staff effectively. Responsibilities expand beyond cooking to include managing kitchen stock, enforcing food safety and sanitation standards, scheduling labor to meet business needs, controlling food costs, and collaborating on menu planning and pricing. The Sous Chef will also be actively involved in hiring, evaluating, and disciplining kitchen personnel and ensuring compliance with company policies.
This position requires a dedicated professional who can maintain cleanliness and organization within the kitchen and ensure all equipment functions properly through regular maintenance. Additionally, the Sous Chef will provide safety training and work continuously on improving training materials and job descriptions for kitchen staff to promote a safe and productive working environment. The role demands flexibility as it includes working nights and weekends, standing for long periods, and the physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

                - Minimum 2-5 years experience in varied kitchen positions including food preparation, line cook, fry cook and expediter
 - At least 6 months experience in a similar capacity
 - Ability to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen, dining room personnel and guests
 - Physical ability to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds
 - Ability to stand for long periods up to 9 hours
 - ServSafe certification or willingness to obtain within a timely manner
 - Availability to work nights and weekends with a flexible schedule
