The role of Host/Hostess is pivotal in ensuring that each guest's experience begins on a positive and efficient note. This position requires someone who is attentive, courteous, and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously with a genuine smile and positive attitude. As the first point of contact for patrons, the Host/Hostess sets the tone for their visit, greeting guests warmly and guiding them to their seats promptly and courteously. This position also involves managing the flow of guests efficiently, whether through direct seating, handling a waitlist, or accommodating call-ahead seating arrangements. The role demands excellent communication skills, both for interacting directly with guests and for coordinating with the kitchen and serving staff to ensure seamless service. In addition to greeting and seating guests, the Host/Hostess is responsible for managing phone calls, accurately taking and directing to-go orders, and ensuring that the lobby area, menus, and restrooms remain clean and well-stocked throughout the shift. The job is physically demanding, requiring the ability to remain mobile in a fast-paced environment for extended periods, including lifting moderate weights and performing repetitive hand and wrist motions.
