The Host Couple position at Focus on the Family, located in the newly established retreat center in Wimberley, Texas, is a unique opportunity to serve in an environment where the work is deeply meaningful, the culture is supportive, and the purpose is eternally significant. This role centers on delivering attentive, grace-filled hospitality to guests during their stay. The Host Couple acts as the primary, non-therapeutic care providers, bridging the guests and the retreat center staff to foster a nurturing and welcoming atmosphere. Responsibilities extend from greeting guests warmly upon arrival, offering tours, assisting with luggage, to providing consistent fellowship, prayer, and support throughout the retreat experience. This role is crucial in creating an inviting and peaceful environment that encourages personal and spiritual growth among visiting couples.
Serving as an essential member of the Hospitality Team, the Host Couple engages with guests daily during meal times and evenings, providing encouragement and prayer at the conclusion of the retreat intensives. They are tasked with maintaining the hospitality center’s ambiance, managing common areas, addressing guest needs promptly, and ensuring safety at all times. Additional duties include light maintenance, cleaning, and occasional tasks such as tending to fireplaces in colder weather. This position demands a heartfelt commitment to Christian principles exemplified by a Christ-like attitude, discretion, empathy, and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive situations with care.
Working as a Host Couple requires staying on-site for the duration of retreats and being available for some weekend and holiday shifts. Candidates need a high school diploma or equivalent, with some college coursework preferred, alongside 1-3 years of relevant experience. Individuals in this role should reflect strong spiritual values consistent with Focus on the Family's mission, demonstrate excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, and be capable of independent judgment in dynamic situations. The pay range for this role is $15.00 to $17.00 per hour.
