The role of a Hospice Aide at Heartland Hospice is vital to fulfilling the organization’s commitment to compassionate end-of-life care. This is a full-time, safety-sensitive position designed for individuals who are empathetic, dependable, and dedicated to providing hands-on personal care and emotional support to terminally ill patients. Hospice Aides work closely with patients to maintain their dignity and comfort by assisting with personal hygiene, grooming, mobility, meal preparation, and light housekeeping tasks. They also observe and report any changes in the patients’ physical or mental conditions and provide crucial emotional support to both patients and their families. In addition to direct patient care, Hospice Aides participate in team meetings and Quality Improvement activities to ensure that care standards remain high and continuously improve. Adherence to infection control protocols and safety measures is mandatory in this role to protect vulnerable patients and staff. The position requires flexibility and the ability to work independently, adapting care to meet the unique and evolving needs of each patient. Heartland Hospice seeks candidates who hold an active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license, current CPR certification, and a valid driver's license with reliable transportation. Preference is given to those with experience in home health, hospice, palliative care, oncology, or hospital nursing settings such as ICU, geriatrics, med-surg, or emergency rooms.
