As a Ramp Agent, you will play a crucial role in the logistics and ground operations that ensure flights depart and arrive efficiently and safely. The Ramp Agent is pivotal in maintaining the seamless flow of operations on the tarmac and at the gates. You will be responsible for loading, unloading, servicing, and guiding customer aircraft, ensuring the utmost care in the handling of baggage, cargo, air mail, and company materials. Upholding safety is paramount, as you will operate various motorized equipment such as pushback tugs, belt loaders, and lift trucks, while constantly coordinating with Wing Walkers and team members to ensure hazard-free vehicle movements. The role also involves rigorous physical activity including lifting and moving heavy items, often weighing up to 70 pounds, and working in varying weather conditions and sometimes tight or high places. Alongside these tasks, meticulous record-keeping and system data entry ensure accurate tracking of cargo and baggage.
Security and compliance are critical components of this role. You must complete ramp and Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) training to obtain airport authority identification which is mandatory for operating in secured zones of the airport. The role requires passing drug screening and a comprehensive background check. Effective communication skills are necessary, enabling clear and professional interaction with team members and supervisors, often via radio equipment. - Must be a local (in-state) resident
- Valid in-state driver’s license
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen
- Ability to pass up to a 10-year background check
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
- Must complete ramp and SIDA training to obtain airport authority identification security
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull and move items of 70 pounds and/or more on a regular basis and repetitively lift weights of 40 to 50 pounds on raised surfaces
- Must be able to walk, climb, bend, kneel, crawl, and stoop on a frequent basis and for extended periods
- Must be able to work in cramped or high places
- Must be able to carry heavy items up and down jet way stairs
- High school diploma or GED
