The opportunity presented is for a full-time evening housekeeping position at Shriners Children's. This role is critical in maintaining the hospital's cleanliness, sanitation, and safe environment, which are essential to delivering optimal patient care. The position is non-exempt and benefits eligible, with a competitive hourly pay range from $16.20 to $24.29, based on experience and departmental equity. The housekeeping position entails performing a range of custodial duties across multiple hospital areas including patient zones, dining facilities, administration buildings, and both internal and external environments. The housekeeper is expected to lead cleaning activities, properly utilize and maintain equipment, manage cleaning chemicals safely by understanding their properties and storage requirements, and report maintenance issues efficiently through computerized systems where applicable. Handling medical and hazardous waste safely along with adhering to strict sanitation protocols is a key part of the job, as is maintaining various floor surfaces through routines such as stripping, mopping, and buffing. The role also requires cleaning patient rooms, restrooms, setting up and breaking down event areas, and assisting with the transport of materials, all while maintaining respect and courtesy towards hospital staff, patients, and visitors. The position calls for physical stamina to perform essential tasks and embraces teamwork and ongoing staff development to meet scheduling and operational needs effectively.   • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • minimum 1 year healthcare environmental services experience preferred
  • ability to read and comprehend policies and procedures, work assignments, safety information
  • understanding of basic units of measure such as ounce, pint, gallon when working with chemicals
  • physical ability to perform tasks requiring standing, walking, lifting, carrying, grasping, pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, crawling and/or climbing
  • availability to work full-time evening shifts
