The role of Cook CD – Standard at California Pizza Kitchen is an essential position responsible for preparing cooked foods to the highest quality standards in a fast-casual setting. The cook must efficiently operate across multiple kitchen stations, including Fry, Flat Top Griddle, Pantry, and egg preparation, demonstrating versatility and strong culinary skills. This position requires following precise recipes and product guidelines to prepare, season, cook, taste, and serve a variety of food items such as soups, meats, vegetables, and desserts, maintaining consistent quality and taste. The cook also needs to communicate effectively with managers and servers to manage ticket times and troubleshoot potential problems promptly.
In addition to preparing food, the Cook CD – Standard maintains excellent sanitation and food safety practices, adhering strictly to HACCP standards. Responsibilities include cleaning and sanitizing workstations, operating kitchen equipment safely, and managing inventory by stocking, dating, rotating, and checking product temperatures. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of relevant cooking experience, preferably in a high-volume or fast-casual dining environment, and possess a strong knowledge of food preparation techniques. Physical requirements of the position include the ability to lift up to 40 pounds, bend, twist, and stand for prolonged periods, as well as safely handling sharp tools and working in a hot kitchen environment.
