The Emergency Medical Trauma Technician Basic (ETTB) role at Renown Health is a dynamic and multifaceted position that plays a pivotal role in supporting the efficient and effective functioning of the Emergency Department. The role combines the responsibilities of an emergency medical technician, supply aide, and unit clerk, reflecting the diverse needs and fast-paced nature of emergency medical services.
This position functions under the direct supervision of the ED medical director, physicians, and paramedics, while working collaboratively with registered nurses. The ETTB's primary responsibility is to perform technical procedures within established competencies and scope of practice approved by Renown Health. This includes providing direct patient care in a team-based model alongside physicians and nursing staff, ensuring that patients receive timely and appropriate interventions. In addition to patient care, the ETTB supports the department by managing inventory, stocking essential supplies, and maintaining medical equipment. The unit clerk duties require excellent organizational skills and the ability to coordinate patient schedules, manage communications, and maintain a welcoming and orderly nurse's station.
The position demands flexibility and a strong dedication to patient safety, as well as the ability to work effectively in a high-stress and ever-changing environment. The ETTB must demonstrate competency in performing 12 lead EKGs, adhere to trauma pathway protocols, and complete various skills checklists to maintain ongoing certification and proficiency. The role also involves responsibility for specialized equipment such as traction and orthopedic devices, ensuring these tools are properly maintained and ready for use.

- six months Emergency Medical Technician experience preferred
- or six months Emergency Department Technician experience
- or completion of the Renown Emergency Medic Intern Program
- must possess or obtain within 90 days adequate computer skills for online learning and job requirements
- current State of Nevada and National Registry of EMT Basic certification required upon hire and must be active within 90 days
- current BLS certification required
