The Piedmont Triad International Airport Authority (PTAA) serves as the governing body responsible for managing the Piedmont Triad International Airport, a key transportation hub located in the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina. The role of Airport Telecommunicator at the Piedmont Triad International Airport Authority is a dynamic and critical position within the public safety department. Candidates selected for this role will be responsible for monitoring the airport's closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems to identify any suspicious or unusual activities that could compromise safety. Telecommunicators must operate independently and maintain a calm and professional demeanor, even under pressure. Operating both analog and 800 MHz radio systems, these professionals dispatch and maintain active communication with various entities, including police, fire departments, security personnel, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), maintenance teams, parking services, and other airport-related personnel.
This role also involves managing various computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems, local and national information networks, and other specialized software applications. Accuracy in documenting police and fire activities is essential for effective incident management. Beyond emergency communications, telecommunicators also provide invaluable assistance to the public by addressing complaints, disseminating information, handling lost and found inquiries, and fulfilling other customer service needs. The shift for this role is a slide shift from Monday through Friday, either from 2 PM to 10 PM or 3 PM to 11 PM depending on business needs. This scheduling highlights the importance of flexibility and commitment to consistent service during these critical hours.
