Ryder is currently hiring a General Manager for its Supply Chain Solutions division based in San Antonio, TX. This role is a salaried, exempt position with an annual pay range between $100,000 and $110,000, complemented by an annual bonus incentive of up to 20% or more of the base salary. The General Manager will operate on a Monday to Friday schedule from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and will lead multiple accounts under their span of control. The position demands a seasoned professional to manage finance, operations, employee relations, customer satisfaction, and strategic growth initiatives within the logistics sector. This leadership role involves overseeing the profitable retention and expansion of business accounts, ensuring compliance with safety and financial standards, and cultivating a high-performing and engaged team.
The General Manager Logistics is responsible for setting goals, conducting skills assessments, career development, and managing performance evaluations, including disciplinary actions and improvement plans. Developing direct and indirect reports, executing HR skill training, and maintaining optimal staffing levels are also core components of the role. Additionally, the General Manager will design and implement operational processes, improve key performance indicators (KPIs), drive customer satisfaction, and enhance employee retention. There is a strong emphasis on reducing safety incidents and unnecessary overtime, alongside ensuring thorough reporting and compliance with company safety and financial reporting protocols.
Applicants must demonstrate a robust set of skills, including project management, effective communication, professional relationship-building, independent and team-based work capabilities, and adaptability within a fast-paced logistics environment. Advanced knowledge of logistics, transportation industry standards, and Ryder’s proprietary systems and processes is required. - Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, or supply chain or equivalent two years relevant work experience
- minimum five years relevant supply chain or logistics experience
- five years managing large multi-level teams
- three years developing and implementing logistics solutions and project management
- experience in a LEAN work environment preferred
- profit and loss responsibility preferred
- one year customer interaction
- one year managing customer KPIs
- some sales experience preferred
- knowledge of truck brokerage preferred
- advanced logistics industry knowledge required
- proficiency with Ryder safety programs
- intermediate financial reporting and accounting skills
