The available position is for a part-time General Maintenance Worker/Housekeeping role at the Minneapolis Veterans Home, a key division within MDVA. This role is classified as a part-time, evening shift position, with hours generally spanning from 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm, including weekends, holidays, and additional hours as required by business demands. The salary range for this position is competitive, paying between $20.51 to $25.43 per hour, or annually between $42,825 and $53,098, based on experience and qualifications. As a General Maintenance Worker/Housekeeper, you will engage in a variety of maintenance and cleaning tasks within a residential care environment designed to support veterans. These duties include maintaining building floors and hallways through sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, and vacuuming; cleaning windows, walls, and curtain dividers with suitable cleaning agents; and ensuring that restrooms are hygienic and well-stocked. Additional responsibilities include outdoor maintenance tasks such as shoveling snow and applying deicing materials to sidewalks, as well as laundry duties including sorting and delivering residents' clothes. You will also operate and maintain cleaning and maintenance equipment, making minor repairs as needed. The Minneapolis Veterans Home is situated on a scenic 53-acre wooded campus featuring mature oak and pine trees, nature trails, biking paths, and views of the Mississippi River.
