The role of a Telemetry Technician at Bronson's BBC Battle Creek facility is a critical position within the Critical Care department. Reporting directly to the Critical Care Manager or designated charge nurse, this full-time role involves the continuous monitoring of cardiac activity in patients through non-invasive methods and the use of a telemetry system. The Telemetry Technician is responsible for interpreting cardiac rhythms, setting alarm parameters, and promptly communicating changes to the nursing team, ensuring patients' safety and timely medical intervention. Additionally, this position extends monitoring responsibilities to patients in the Emergency Department who might be at risk of self-harm, utilizing closed-circuit TV for enhanced observation. This 12-hour night shift position requires someone who is detail-oriented, able to manage high volumes of visual and mental task fatigue, and skilled in both clerical and analytical functions related to patient cardiac monitoring. Duties include performing and filing 12-lead EKGs, maintaining telemetry equipment, and coordinating communication among units. The role also acts as a concierge for visitors, providing assistance and contributing to patient data collection for quality and safety assurances. The Telemetry Technician must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, maintain compliance with federal and state laws, and uphold a professional and ethical demeanor at all times. This role is integral to the safety and care of patients within the Definitive Observation Unit, making it a vital part of the healthcare team's success.
