The role of the Full-Time Patient & Family Concierge (PFC) at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital’s Neurosurgery Unit 6D is pivotal in enhancing the overall experience of patients and families during their hospital stay. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about starting a career in healthcare and have a genuine desire to help others. The PFC serves as a friendly, welcoming presence who supports patients, their families, and clinical staff by managing a range of non-clinical tasks that facilitate day-to-day hospital operations.
Scheduled for 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, this full-time role offers a stable work schedule accompanied by a starting wage of $18.00 per hour. The final job title and pay rate will depend on the candidate’s level of education and relevant experience. The position focuses on delivering compassionate service by greeting and escorting patients and visitors, assisting with meal delivery, transporting patients within the unit, and ensuring that medical supplies and other essential items are restocked and readily available.
Additionally, the PFC is responsible for keeping patient and family areas clean and organized and promptly reporting any maintenance needs or safety concerns to the appropriate departments. The role also includes answering phone calls, responding to call lights, and providing non-clinical support to maintain a smooth, welcoming environment.

Instead, the PFC role focuses entirely on support and service, making it an ideal entry point for those interested in healthcare careers but who may not yet have clinical training.
