This role at Lowe's primarily involves providing exceptional customer service and support at the front end of the store, including assisting customers with self-checkout, bagging merchandise, processing transactions, and ensuring a smooth and efficient checkout experience. The position requires multitasking abilities to handle multiple customers on several self-checkout registers simultaneously while proactively engaging with customers by recommending products and services. Associates in this role also assist customers in finding products, provide knowledge about merchandise features, warranties, and benefits, and help with loading merchandise when needed.
The role also includes responsibilities for maintaining the in-stock area by inspecting returned merchandise, processing customer orders, verifying prices, and managing store supplies. Safety and security are critical components, so the associate will monitor cash drawer limits, watch for signs of theft or shoplifting, and ensure the cleanliness and organization of the store's front end and working areas. Associates operate various store equipment such as scanners, paging systems, and CCTV surveillance to maintain operational efficiency and security.
Starting pay ranges from $17.00 to $18.40 per hour, depending on factors like location, experience, and education. This role is suitable for individuals with less than one year of computer knowledge but with some retail experience, particularly in cashier roles. While minors may have some restrictions concerning certain duties, the position is designed to offer a supportive learning environment with coaching and supervision.
