Situated within this dynamic environment, the role of Export Control Specialist is integral to Bombardier's operational success and compliance with international trade regulations. This position is based in Chicago under Learjet Inc, a key branch of Bombardier dedicated to the production of business jets known for their superior performance and craftsmanship. The Export Control Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring that all import and export activities comply with applicable laws, trade agreements such as USMCA, and various regulatory frameworks. The salary range for this position is highly competitive, spanning from $91,600 to $170,200 USD, reflecting Bombardier's recognition of the importance of attracting and retaining top talent in trade compliance. The Export Control Specialist will maintain and update compliance manuals, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and internal controls, conduct internal audits to assess risks, and report improvements to leadership. Coordination of special trade programs, management of customs bonds, and providing expert advice on transportation routing are also essential duties. This role demands collaboration with multiple departments including Legal, Finance, Taxation, and external counsel, ensuring comprehensive adherence to customs and trade compliance regulations at all domestic Bombardier sites.
Candidates thriving in this role will have substantial experience in Foreign Trade Zones, trade compliance, and customs regulations, alongside a solid educational background in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or equivalent fields. Certifications such as CUSECO or CCS are highly valued, as is knowledge in duty drawback processes and classification according to the HTS or Schedule B codes. Familiarity with key trade compliance programs including C-TPAT, EAR, and ITAR augments the candidate’s capability to navigate complex regulatory landscapes.

                - 5+ years of experience in trade compliance roles
 - bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, or related field
 - certification in customs compliance such as CUSECO or CCS
 - in-depth knowledge of USMCA trade agreements, import/export rules, and regulations
 - familiarity with trade compliance frameworks including C-TPAT, EAR, ITAR
 - experience with ACE data management and duty drawback processes
 - strong organizational and communication skills
