Currently, Saranello's is seeking an experienced Executive Sous Chef to join their team. This leadership role is pivotal in managing all back-of-house (BOH) kitchen operations, ensuring that every dish meets the highest standards of quality and consistency. The Executive Sous Chef will oversee mid- and closing kitchen duties, manage inventory and food costs, and lead the kitchen staff in delivering exceptional dining experiences. With a salary range between $60,000.00 and $90,000.00 per year, this full-time position offers a competitive package inclusive of quarterly bonuses, paid time off, 401(k), and comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance.
The Executive Sous Chef at Saranello's is responsible for running BOH shifts efficiently, maintaining adequate inventory, and supervising all kitchen and dish teams to ensure smooth operations. This role requires active participation in pre-shift meetings, food tastings, and monitoring line and temperature checks to uphold food safety and quality standards. Collaboration with the general manager and designated managers or chefs is essential in maintaining and regularly updating recipe books that define the restaurant's culinary identity.
Beyond the kitchen duties, the Executive Sous Chef plays an integral role in human resources functions, including interviewing, hiring, onboarding, training, supervising, and developing all back-of-house employees. Promoting teamwork and maintaining a collaborative, respectful work environment are key to the restaurant's culture. The position demands flexibility, as the Executive Sous Chef must be available to work various shifts, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and potentially multiple locations with occasional overnight travel.
Physical requirements include the ability to move and lift up to 50 pounds at times, supporting the hands-on nature of the role. The candidate must possess strong communication skills, using tact and good judgment when dealing with guests, vendors, and team members.
