American Cruise Lines is the largest U.S. cruise line, renowned for offering immersive travel experiences combined with exceptional service and world-class cuisine. Specializing in cruising America’s most breathtaking waterways, the company operates over 50 itineraries including iconic regions such as New England, the Southeast, the Mississippi River, the Pacific Northwest, and Alaska. With a fleet of the finest ships sailing exclusively in the United States, American Cruise Lines provides guests the opportunity to explore the nation’s diverse landscapes, rich history, and vibrant cultures while enjoying unparalleled comfort and luxury on board. The role of Executive Chef aboard these cruise ships is pivotal in delivering the company’s promise of memorable and delicious dining experiences. This position calls for a culinary leader who is passionate about crafting regionally inspired menus using fresh, local ingredients that reflect the unique flavors of each itinerary destination. As Executive Chef, you will be at the helm of the galley team, managing meal preparation for guests and crew alike, while ensuring every dish is presented with flair and meets high standards of taste and quality. This position is a unique opportunity for chefs looking to expand their horizons beyond the traditional kitchen environment. You will live and work aboard luxury cruise ships for 6 to 8 weeks at a time, followed by 1 to 2 weeks of unpaid vacation, allowing you to travel and experience various parts of America from a truly unique vantage point. With a fully equipped kitchen and supportive team environment, the Executive Chef role blends creativity, leadership, and operational excellence. Key responsibilities include leading the galley team of 6 to 10 members, coaching and inspiring a hands-on kitchen culture, overseeing food inventory, managing portion control, and ensuring compliance with FDA food safety, sanitation, and operational protocols. The role demands adaptability, organizational skills, and a calm, solution-focused mindset to handle last-minute changes without compromising quality. Exceptional guest service is at the core of daily duties, ensuring each dining event aboard the ship is a special occasion. American Cruise Lines values chefs with over six years of experience in full-service resorts, hotels, country clubs, or banquet settings. Leadership abilities, strong communication and training skills, and a thorough understanding of kitchen best practices are essential. Preferred candidates hold ServSafe Manager Certification and demonstrate the ability to thrive in fast-paced, team-oriented, and high-pressure environments. In exchange for your culinary expertise and leadership, American Cruise Lines offers a comprehensive employment experience including travel expenses to and from the assigned ship, room and board during your contract periods, uniforms, and paid training. Working aboard the ship provides an inspiring work environment with picturesque views every day, making this more than just a job but a rewarding lifestyle and career opportunity aboard America’s premier cruise line.
