The Executive Chef position at NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital offers an exciting opportunity for a seasoned culinary professional to join a highly respected healthcare institution. This full-time role, with an annual salary range of $81,325.15 to $90,000.00, is critical to delivering world-class food production and service aligned with the hospital’s mission and patient-centered values.
As the Executive Chef, you will oversee all aspects of food production, ensuring compliance with HACCP standards for patient meals, cafeteria offerings, and beverage services such as coffee bars. You will manage labor, food, and supply budgets carefully to achieve operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Your leadership will extend to serving as a technical expert and mentor for managers and staff within the culinary services team.
The role demands collaboration with culinary teams to develop innovative menus that are not only delicious but also health-focused and aligned with current wellness trends. You will lead quality improvement initiatives, ensuring that food safety, handling, and regulatory compliance with Department of Health (DOH) and The Joint Commission (TJC) guidelines are rigorously observed.

You will be responsible for maintaining sanitary, safe, and efficient kitchen operations, managing purchasing and inventory processes, and supervising union and non-union staff through hiring, training, coaching, and performance evaluations.

                - Bachelor’s degree in culinary arts, hospitality management, food science or related field preferred
 - Minimum of 5 years culinary management experience, ideally in healthcare or institutional settings
 - Proficient knowledge of HACCP and food safety standards

 - Experience managing budgets and controlling costs
 - Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings, late nights, and occasional long days
 - Physical ability to perform all aspects of food service including lifting and standing for long periods
