Currently, Harbor Oaks Hospital is seeking a Housekeeper to join its Environmental Services (EVS) team. This part-time position is an excellent opportunity for individuals who take pride in maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment within a healthcare setting. The role is crucial to the hospital’s operations as it ensures that the facility meets stringent hygiene standards necessary for the health and safety of both patients and staff. The Housekeeper will primarily work during the day shift from 10:30 am to 7:00 pm, Monday through Friday, including every other weekend. The rate of pay ranges from $14.00 to $18.00 per hour depending on experience.
As an integral member of the EVS team, the Housekeeper will be responsible for performing specific cleaning and custodial tasks that contribute to the overall upkeep and sanitation of the hospital environment. Tasks include disinfecting patient rooms, furniture, fixtures, and medical equipment using appropriate chemicals and processes, ensuring all areas are free from germs and contamination. In addition to routine cleaning duties, the Housekeeper will also perform other responsibilities such as moving and arranging furniture, turning mattresses, cleaning kitchens and cooking utensils, and maintaining floors by sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, or polishing as needed. Laundering soiled linens responsibly and maintaining adequate cleaning supplies for the department are also essential functions of this role.
The Housekeeper will play a key role in maintaining infection control measures by following established protocols and ensuring the proper use and storage of cleaning equipment and supplies after each shift. This role extends to preparing rooms for meetings and arranging decorations and furniture for various facility functions, demonstrating the versatility and adaptability required for success in this position. Taking initiative to stock supplies as needed and supporting infection control efforts highlights the responsibility and reliability expected from the successful candidate.
Ideal candidates for this role will have a high school diploma or equivalent, with previous experience in housekeeping within commercial, clinical, or healthcare environments preferred. Harbor Oaks Hospital provides necessary training for certifications such as CPR, de-escalation and restraint techniques, with first aid training possibly required depending on facility or state regulations.
