The company is currently seeking a temporary part-time Events Specialist for a six-month period from November 2025 to April 2026 to assist in strengthening Indianapolis' position as a top meeting destination and enhance the visibility of tourism's value in the area. The Events Specialist role is vital in conceptually planning, budgeting, and executing a variety of special events that target meeting decision makers and support future convention business. This position involves significant creative input and logistical coordination within Visit Indy’s brand guidelines and budget. The role includes collaboration on key customer events, local stakeholder activities, and participation in industry tradeshows and sales missions in major markets like Chicago and Washington DC. This temporary role requires a hands-on approach in managing event budgets, negotiating with vendors for event rentals, catering, entertainment, and other components essential for successful events. The specialist will assist with both the strategic and operational aspects of events such as the Big Ten Women’s Basketball Tournament, NCAA Men’s Final Four, and the Indianapolis 500 event weekend. They will also support various stakeholder events including the Annual State of Tourism and ROSE Awards. The ideal candidate will bring a background in communications, public relations, and/or marketing, with preferred experience in destination marketing and a solid understanding of Indianapolis as a destination. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are critical, along with proven abilities in multitasking, problem-solving, and working both independently and collaboratively. This role demands flexibility to work non-routine hours and manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment. • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in communications, public relations, or marketing preferred
• Minimum of one year of experience in communication or marketing preferred
