The role of the Events Services Assistant is integral to the smooth operation of catering and event services. Reporting directly to the Banquet Manager, the assistant supports the day-to-day functions necessary for successful event execution. This full-time, non-exempt position requires a commitment of 40 hours per week and offers an hourly wage starting at $18.58, with planned increments to $18.87 after six months and $19.44 after twelve months. Working within a collective bargaining environment represented by Teamsters, this role combines hands-on support in banquet set-ups, food and beverage service, and student dinner coordination with vital logistical tasks such as equipment inventory control, packing, deliveries, and vehicle maintenance.
The Events Services Assistant must exhibit strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and an ability to manage multiple responsibilities concurrently. Duties span overseeing event logistics, ensuring that all setup and service standards are met, efficiently handling customer service interactions, and maintaining safety and sanitation standards throughout the event cycle. Additionally, the role involves cashiering duties, requiring proficiency in cash reconciliation, sales, and the use of Microsoft Office and Google productivity tools. - High school diploma or GED
- Must be able to read write and converse fluently in English
- A valid CA driver's license
- Three years of experience in food service operations including two years of experience in a high-volume catering operation
- Two years of experience as a retail clerk in a busy environment
- Knowledge of and ability to ring up sales quickly and accurately
- Ability to apply math skills to accurately reconcile cash and debit reports
- Must possess a valid California driver license with a clean record
- Ability to maintain College's Designated Driver Status
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications Word Excel PowerPoint Google drives folders forms or any combination of productivity programs applicable to position responsibilities
