The Events Coordinator position is a vital role within the Events Department at the downtown Raleigh Convention Center, a modern facility spanning 500,000 square feet. The center boasts impressive amenities including a stunning granite lobby featuring dramatic windows with views of downtown Raleigh, an elegant ballroom, and a spacious exhibit hall, all equipped with state-of-the-art technology and award-winning culinary services. This position is responsible for supporting event planning and coordination, functioning as the primary logistics coordinator for events hosted at the facility. The Events Coordinator acts as the initial contact and liaison between clients and various departments such as setup, electrical, audio/visual, and production teams to ensure seamless event execution. Responsibilities include overseeing event logistics by preparing, monitoring, and adjusting event schedules; managing cost estimates and service orders; and conducting client meetings and venue tours. The role involves administrative duties and occasionally acting as a lead worker by assigning tasks and monitoring their completion. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional organizational, communication, and decision-making skills, with an ability to remain calm and composed while troubleshooting under pressure. Patience, confidence, and professionalism when interacting with clients are paramount to success in this role. Additionally, the position requires flexibility in work hours due to event scheduling, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary. The Events Coordinator is critical in ensuring every detail of client events is managed effectively to guarantee a successful and memorable experience for all attendees.
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalency
  • 3 to 5 years experience in audio, video, lighting, electrics, stage carpentry, rigging, events coordination or related field OR equivalent combination of training and/or experience
  • Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Capability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly
  • Ability to work in office and various indoor and occasional outdoor environments
  • Willingness to comply with ADA requirements
  • Ability to communicate professionally and maintain patience and poise under pressure
