This full-time position reports directly to the Vice President of Marketing and Human Resources and involves overseeing the strategy and execution of the organization’s events and communication efforts. The specialist plays a key role in coordinating a variety of events, including fundraising galas, community outreach programs, volunteer recognitions, and job fairs, ensuring each event is meticulously planned and executed to the highest standards. In addition to event management, this role is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive communication strategies across both digital and traditional channels. This includes producing press releases, newsletters, social media content, and website updates designed to increase engagement, visibility, and positive donor relations. With an emphasis on brand consistency, the Events & Communications Specialist collaborates closely with internal teams and external vendors to create compelling messaging and promotional materials that reflect the organization’s values and goals. This position demands strong skills in project management, creativity, and communication. The specialist must be adept at managing multiple projects simultaneously, operating under tight deadlines, and navigating high-pressure environments effectively. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and travel frequently within Mississippi for events and meetings is required. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, event management, or a related field, with at least three years of related experience, preferably within the nonprofit sector.
