The University of Alaska Anchorage is currently seeking a dedicated Events Coordinator to join its Department of Event Services. This is a full-time, staff position located on the Anchorage campus and funded on a term basis with annual contract renewal subject to university discretion. The Events Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of event management for both on-campus and off-campus clients across the UAA campus. This includes managing the entire lifecycle of events such as processing requests, scheduling, coordinating setup requirements, addressing audio-visual needs, and handling billing procedures. The coordinator will act as the primary liaison for clients, ensuring seamless communication from the event planning stages through execution to guarantee client satisfaction and encourage repeat business.
Success in this role requires strong multitasking and prioritization abilities, professionalism in attitude and appearance, and outstanding verbal and written communication skills. The ideal candidate will possess at least two years of experience in the hospitality or events management field and be capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team setting. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential, with approved overtime available when necessary.
In addition to event coordination duties, the position involves administrative support under the direction of the General Manager of Event Services and may include assisting with divisional projects and initiatives that further the goals and mission of UAA Campus Services. Familiarity and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and database management are required to manage logistical and operational components effectively.
