The primary purpose of this position is to provide a stress-free, fun, and engaging experience for customers, especially through children’s birthday parties and various craft classes or events. In addition to event management, the role involves delivering outstanding customer service by assisting customers with finding products, ensuring a fast and friendly checkout experience, and completing operational tasks such as unloading trucks, stocking merchandise, and maintaining store recovery standards. This position is vital in upholding Michaels’ brand promises and enhancing the overall shopping experience. As an Event Coordinator at Michaels Westheimer, you will be responsible for managing multiple events simultaneously. You will engage with clients of all ages to create an environment filled with fun and creativity while demonstrating and instructing participants on craft projects. This includes facilitating party add-ons like goody bags and balloons, communicating effectively with clients and store team members, and handling administrative tasks such as responding to emails, making phone calls, and managing paperwork. Adaptability is key, as you will be required to adjust plans based on client feedback and develop contingency plans for emergencies. Ensuring client satisfaction and adhering to the company’s cleanliness and safety standards before, during, and after events is an essential part of the role. Furthermore, you will enhance the customer experience by assisting shoppers in locating products, promoting the Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards, and educating on the Voice of Customer survey. You will also contribute to operational efficiencies by supporting processes like Buy Online Pickup in Store and Ship From Store, and participating in merchandising activities such as stocking, planogram implementation, and store recovery. Attention to detail and compliance with Standard Operating Procedures and company policies are critical for maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. The ideal candidate possesses an energetic and enthusiastic personality with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Experience with children’s events, retail, and customer service is essential to succeed in this role. You should be capable of handling physical demands such as standing for long periods, lifting, bending, and working in a vibrant public retail setting.
